Overvoltage relay question

I fried my overvolt relay by accident. A friend has one from a 87 190E. Oh yeah my car is a 88 300e. Will the 87 one fit my car?

Try them looking them both up on Fastlane and see if you get the same result, or call a dealer parts guy.

but if the dealer service man is evil he will lie to you and make you buy a new one... lol

I believe they are perfectly swappable!

Is it a 5-pin, 7-pin or 9-pin? I think that is the only question. Also, have you burned up the relay or the fuses on top?

I've read here that if you hear anything rattling around inside when the OVP is shaken, it's time has come.

I was experiencing intermittent stalling out at idle once fully warmed up and after having been shut-off for 20-30 mins.

Changed out the old single fuse unit with the newer dual fuse unit and the problem hasn't resurfaced.

The old unit was rattling when I shook it.

Not to insult anyone's intellegence or anything but....

make sure you hold down the top clear plastic door and contains the fuses before you shake the OVP, I am kinda absent minded and I thought my OVP was broken when I shook it, but the sound was coming from the door flapping up and down... maybe it is a good thing since that caused me to buy a new one which cured my cold start enrichment problems!
Idles at 900 RPM when cold and about 600RPM when the gauge reads 80C..

YEAH!

I am pretty sure my relay is toast. The battery went dead on a cold moring and after it was boosted the problems began. All the searches point to that conclusion even though the spade is still intact. Thanks for the replys.
