1985 W201 Front Strut Question

Hello Everyone;
A couple years ago I had the front struts on my 85 190E replaced. I left the car with my sister in law in case she needed another ride. Just picked the car back from her and the driver's front strut sounds like it is trying to come thru the hood. Checked the mount and while the strut nut is tight, the strut can move up ~ thus I'm assuming wornout strut mounting bushing. Just saw something else. A Strut Bump Stop Bushing? Could that be it? I have looked at the exploded view of the bushing and mount kit parts that come with a replacement mounting kit. My question is, Can I just loosen the strut bolt & replace the mount kit & bushings, & retighten the strut bolt; or do I have to compress the spring, jack the car, etc.? Ideas on what to expect as reasonable shop charge if I have someone else do it?
Thank You for Your Consideration;
Richard
