I recently noticed a squealing noise coming from the front of my 87 300e. when I checked it out it seemed like the pulley on the fan clutch is off balance and is grinding up against another pulley. since I noticed this I haven't been driving it. I'm planning on having the head rebuilt in a few days anyway but, is it safe to drive it about 20 miles like this? should I get a tow??
also, is their anything else I should replace when I'm doing a valve job??
your comments will be greatly appreciated!
thanks,
Adam

Sounds like you are having problrms with the fan bearing support. Very high failure rate (125k-150k mi). DON'T wait you can ruin many $$$ parts if fan comes off. Not a hard job & part is $160 +-$.
