C220 cuts out
 

Hi all

My wife’s ’94 C220 has developed an intermittent cutting out problem. As she reduces speed to turn into her office, the engine just cuts out, without warning. After a few cranks it re-starts, and she can continue.

There are no warning signs like a splutter, it just cuts out as she reduces speed. It has not happened at cruising speed.

The car is well maintained and regularly serviced. I would really appreciate advice on this.

Thanks for your response. However, when I click on that link I get to a window that tells me no matches are found. Am I doing something wrong?

I really need help here because my wife is starting to think that the car is unreliable, which I know is not very Merc like.

Have you checked your fuel filter? Or fuel pressure and volume?

No, I haven’t checked the filter or anything fuel related. The engine performs well under acceleration, so I did not suspect that. There is also no splutter before the engine cuts out. It’s very sudden, so my thinking is that it is an electronic module or something.
