W210 E55 is acting up :(

Ok I have three problems that are really sucking big!!!!!

First my blinker/highbeam/wiper wand. I can't get my high beams on by pushing the wand forward anymore. It sometimes comes on when I have it pushed fwd, and push up and engage the right turn signal. So I'm left to have to hold it backward with my hand to get it to give me high beam.

My left headlight is damaged where it screws it right behind the fender. Maybe that's why, I don't know. But my guess is that it's coming from the wand itself. Any idea what is wrong and how to fix it?

Now, my rear sunshade stopped working. I was messing w/ the center console while hardwiring some stuff (nothing electrical done to it however) and I had my subs and amps installed at the same time. Now I can't get the rear shade up. I get nothing. I checked all the fuses and all is well. What gives? :(

Finally, my right front pass. window is acting up. When doing one touch up, it goes up then goes down almost half way by itself :( I tried numerous times to resync the window and it works for a little bit then acts up again.

Help me please :( :( :(

Well,
First of all I would think something went wrong while installing the aftermarket stuff. If you get nothing on your sunshade it is possible that a power line or switched circuit got cut or grounded. My windows on my 140 acted funny too if there was low voltage. Try syncing the windows up first and see if that helps. (hold down all window buttons for 3 seconds after completly closed) that syncs them and tells the controller where they are. Then I would check the power at the fuse on the sunshade. See if you are getting power to the fuse block for that circuit, if you are, then pull the switch, check the power to the switch, if power there then check the power to the motor, just hook a little 12 volt bulb into the circuit and when you hit the switch it should light up, if not then you have a bad circuit, if you get power, then you have a bad motor on the sunshade. Regarding your turn/high beam stalk, try moving your steering wheel a bit and see if that helps, (the tilt/telescope) otherwise think back and determine if anything has been done to it. Did someone try/install a controller for a sound system on the stalk or wheel areas? Don't let anyone mess with your car that you don't trust. If I don't do it myself it goes to the dealership. The controls and wiring in these cars are not basic stuff, so unless someone knows what they are doing it is just best to leave it alone. Happy Benzing!

The window is almost certainly designed to go back down if it gets jammed or slowed by an obstruction when using the auto-up.

I've seen a few (non Mercedes) cars with a similar problem - window thinks there's an obstruction and keeps trying to go back down, but there's rarely any obvious reason for the behaviour.

thanks for the tips.

For the headlight/wiper wand/control stalk, I think it's just faulty and will need to be replaced. I'll have Mark Cummins help me w/ that :D

As for the window, I'll have to check on obstructions. They do go down when I put my hand on top of the windows.

About the shade, its gets power, and the switch works. I can actually hear some clicking sound when I stand by the shade. It sounds like it's trying to get activated but nothing happens. :(

The shop that installed my sub and amp, placed the amp underneath the rear deck. I thought maybe a screw had perforated all the way up into the shade but it didn't. I'm wondering if maybe the screw hit something it sohuldn't have. Any ideas?

Doc

Any further luck with the sunshade?

Mine has been dead since i bought the car last year.
Just got to thinking I would fix the sunshade this weekend?

Thanks

shade works again. IT miraculously started to work all of the sudden. Weird!

Doc...

Regarding the sunshade, NOT the answer I was looking for...

I'm halfway into the console.
