please help MB 300E 1988

can somebody tell me how do get the codes from my car?
I am new to all this and all the posts that I read deal with people that allready know what they are doing.
The X92 connector naer the battery has only 3 connections 1, 6, and 7with no LED and pushdwon button.
I have a multitester and I know that I have to use connector X-11 the diagnostic port but how do I test for fuel pump relay?
please any help I am without a car for 3 days
thanks

This thread may help you test the functionality of your fuel pump relay. Look at what Stevebfl had to say.

I FOUND IT, I think

Well I did the test (short 30 and 87 leads) and the car started okay.
I did not raun the car for long being afraid to do it with no relay.
So it turns out to be a common problem for MB. Now I have to scan for a good but used one.
Thank everybody for your hale guys, this is a great site :)

Get a new relay, they aren't that expensive (at least from FASTLANE, anyway).

Cures all sorts of ills, from intermittant stalling to rough idle....

The car will run fine with the jumper in there, but you will have to remove it each time you shut the engine off. Otherwise, the fuel pumps will run continuously. This won't hurt anything, but it will run the battery flat pretty quick.
