Water Pump Questio

My water pump, for a 92' 190E 2.6, is leaking and while searching for the part I am asked what engine number I have? I am asked if it is a 10-020231 or a 12-067444. How can i find out that information? Please answer via post or direct e-mail response. Thanks for your time. Shorty

Your engine number should start with 103.942. It is not on the data plate on the radiator. The civilized way to get it is to take your VIN number, with some proof of ownership, into the dealership, walk up to a service person, and ask them to run the VMI (vehicle master inquiry) on your car. The VMI will tell you everything you would ever need to know about your car including the full engine number.
