BAS/ASR light permanently on
 

I was driving my CLK320 (W208, late 1999 model) automatic and the BAS/ASR light suddenly came on when I turned right after being stationary at the traffic lights. I have never had any problems with car and it has been regularly maintained. The ASR/BAS light has since stayed on permanently and the cruise control has also stopped working. However, there is no loss of power and the car drives as it has always. After checking this web site, I have checked all the brake/front lights etc. all of these work as expected. Has anyone had this problem before, any help will be greatly appreciated.

You are having a problem with the traction system, that computer system will need to be scanned for codes.

The problem was the break switch. Replaced it and everthing works, was told by Mercedes that it is the most common problem. Took the car to Tony Purslow in Basingstoke, excellent service.
