Trying to get rid of the cruise control

need some help my cruise control (the part on the engine) on an 1995 280C is making some funny noises and I will like to take it out, anyway I don’t use it but I been told that is kind of impossible to get rid of it. Anybody with the same problem? I look at the search and there is nothing about it.
