Ignition Trigger

Hi All

My car died on me whilst parking today (102 engine TSZ ignition system). Cranked OK, fuel was OK but no spark. Traced the problem to 3 major components - distributor, coil and ignition module. Coil and distributor checked out OK on the ohmmeter but I don't know how to test the ignition trigger. So by process of elimination and crossing the fingers, I replaced the trigger unit and it fired right up. Although I fixed it, I didn't like doing it by process of elimination. So how does one test the trigger module?

BTW being unsure of the problem I opted for a cheaper HUCO brand vs the Bosch at 3 times the price. It did say Made in Germany on it.

Regards

Unless you have some special MB test equipment, I don't know of any way to test the ignition module. GM HEIs are the same deal. Unless you have a HEI module tester, you test the pickup coil, ignition coil, and wiring. If all this is okay, by process of elimination it's the module.

The good news on HEIs is that the old four pin modules are only about 30 bucks.
