location of 38 pin diagnostics socket on w220 2000 model?
Hi Everyone,
I really enjoy reading this forum and usually find answers to all my questions here as someone has already asked them before me. For the last two days I've tried to search on the internet where the 38pin diagnostics connector is located on a Mercedes S320 2000 W220 model. most people say it is near the fuse cluster under the hood but I can't find it. Could anyone kindly show me where it is on this picture which I've included in this thread. Thanks in advance. W. Ahmed ENGINE VIEW |
S320? It's either S430 or S500 for 2000. At least in the USA.

There isn't one on a W220. The only diagnostic connection is done throught the OBD II connector in the driver's underdash panel, near the parking brake pedal.
The W140 S-class used it up to 1999. It was under the plastic cover on the pass side shock tower in the engine bay. Dr.D |
Dr. Diesel - I've got the 38 pin connector in my '99 E300 as well as the OBDII connector under the dash. I have a code reader for the under dash connector, but found lots of codes when someone read the 38 pin connector for me. My OBDII code reader showed none of those codes. Is there a reasonable DIY reader for the 38 pin connector?
Thanks. Len |
Hi,
Thanks for everyone's reply. my car is s320 because I'm in UK. I have recently bought an expensive kit which connects to the 38 pin connector on S-class year 2000 W220. I have been assured several times by the vendor that this connector does exist on this model and is hidden near the coolant bottle or fuse box. Could anyone who has this particular model help me find this 38 pin connector thanks. W. Ahmed |
