86 420 Sel Rear Window Not Working
I Just Bough A Used 86 420 Sel In Pretty Good Shape/105k Miles.
The Rear Window Went Down But Is Not Not Coming Up. I Can Hear The Motor But Nothing Is Happening. All 3 Other Windows Work Fine. Help! |
The plastic jaw on the regulator is most likely the problem. You can get the jaw without having to replace the window regulator.

Plastic Jaw
Forgive my ignorance, but is the plastic jaw inside the door panel? Is this a simple fix or something that should be handled by a mechanic?

You're Forgiven...
Stan is probably correct. The plastic "jaw" (3 or 4 bucks at the stealership) IS inside the door and you need to remove the panel . It is not complicated but you will need to pay attention to how it comes off to avoid breaking little things you don't want broken. Smarter guys here have threads posted on how to DIY (do a search). Your first time will take a couple of hours. When the other side goes (don't ask me how I know...) it'll take less than an hour.

Window won't stay up!
Okay, I went ahead and took the door panel off. I manually raised the window becaue a storm was headed my way. The window is up, however, when I open and shut the door it slides down a couple of inches. I was planning on heading over to pick up the "Jaw" on the regulator, however I just wanted to throw that out there in case it signifies a different problem.
