vacuum lines (hard plastic)
I am having transmission issues (clunking from 2nd to 1st and from 1st to 2nd) on my '84 300 SD. I am changing the transmission fluid and will likely try Tran-X, but I am also looking at the vacuum hoses and lines, per suggestions on this forum. I also bought a Mity-Vac hand-operated vacuum to test the various connections..
Some of the hard plastic lines are discolored and brittle and I'd like to replace them, but I cannot find where to get them besides, perhaps, at the dealer, which I have avoided thus far. Any suggestions? Can rubber air hose substitute for them? Also, the flexible 3-way air connectors that are in my car are unavailable in auto stores near me. There is a hard plastic version for a whopping $3.99 each (multiply times all of the ones in the car), but these are not Mercedes specific. So, if I find cracks or leaks in these, what can I use to replace them? Thanks. |

Hoses
I bought my vacuum lines and connectors from the dealer. I think they wereC$3 a meter. You can also get the right colours.

Check your driveline's flex disks. They often wear out. Isolate one end of the drive shaft while twisting the other.
