Which M104 Headgasket Set?

As we all know the M104 engine has head gasket problems, mine needs replaced and there are 3 different brands available from FastLane. Is any one better then the others? This is the second time my head gasket will be replaced, I thought MB fixed the problem with an updated part? The first time it was replaced about 60K miles ago, it was replaced with the Mercedes Benz part.

Can anyone confirm the part was updated/changed, was there a part number change? Is there a better brand or package from the three suppliers? (Goetze,Reinz,Elring)

Thanks,
Brad

I replaced mine. I had no brand preference. I put in whatever Phil from Fastlane recommended.

The replacement head gasket is improved. I personally saw the problem area reinforced with some type of insert.

original ------ PN 104 016 25 20
replacement - PN 104 016 28 20

Exclamation

Use only the Elring ON THAT engine!!!!!!

The others are good but Don't have the reinforcement around the oil pressure passages!

Can anyone tell me if the new head gasket part was used in the head gasket set, Part # 104-010-37-20? The gasket was last replaced Aug 17th 2001, that was the part number for the set purchased, at least thats what shows on my records.

Thanks,
Brad
