Ignition switch
 

I just had the ignition switch on my 1987 300D replaced. Now, when I turn the key off everything goes off as it should. However, when I open the door the radio and wipers will come back on. Close the door and they turn off. Any ideas???

Just kidding. That's pretty bizarre. Sounds like something is crossed with the dome light. I wonder if the dome light had a bad ground if you could get that sort of behavior. Do the wipers come on at full power or do they seem to be only on weakly? Do the door buzzer and dome light function properly?

It is bizzare! The wipers come on at full power. Everything else seems to work fine. I think the shop crossed or shorted something when they installed the switch.

Sounds like you have the same problem as me,mine is down to the wiring on the back of the barrel,as my heater fan runs all the time,wipers & washers work without the key in the ignition,but they never before i had the problem with the barrel wires,as i dont think they are back where they should be.
