W124 Transmission Mount
Has anyone here ever replaced their transmission mount? Here is a pic of a W124 transmission mount:

Not too bad. You'll need a jack to support the rear of the trans, a couple of sockets (14mm and 17mm, maybe 15mm IIRC), and a 19mm wrench (preferably box end, 6-pt.). First, spray the nut on top of the mount, the crossmember-to-mount and crossmember-to-chassis bolts with some PB Blaster/Liquid Wrench or equivalent.
1) Support the trans 2) Loosen the 19mm nut at the top of the mount 3) Loosen the bolts that secure the mount to the crossmember 4) Remove the bolts that hold the crossmember to the chassis I recommend undoing the crossmember last so that you can work up some torque in case the nut and the other bolts are seriously tight on there.

Thanks! I was wondering if anyone needed to replace their's because of wear. I don't remembr anyone mentioning that they replaced one because it broke. Since I'm getting a new transmission, I thought maybe this might be the right time to get one of these. I haven't seen the condition of mine yet though. They are selling for $11 on ebay.

If yours is original, it has more than a dozen years of stress/wear. At $11 for the part (assuming 'no cost' for labour since you're putting in new tranny), why not! If it were my car, I'll put in 10 of them!

That's the price you can buy it on Ebay if you live in the US. They don't deliver to Canada. Up here it costs roughly $50. We pay more for everything.

Fair enough. I don't know what the professional opinion on tranny mount life expectancy, just think that this will be a great opportunity with the labour saving. Even at $50 for the part, that's just a few percent of the total bill?

I agree 100%. I am going to change every part in the area that needs changing. I actually started this thread to see if other members had problems with the transmission and resolved the matter with the mount since I neer heard anyone mention it before and to let everyone know how cheap it is being offered for. I already bought synthetic ATF, pan gasket and filter so far. I have more parts to pick up soon and the list keeps growing

I spoke to a Mercedes transmission rebuilder and he said that if the mount was to fail it would be from from oil damage more than likely, otherwise they should be fine. Just thought I'd share another person's opinion.
