Unhappy 1999 E320 Transmission

1999 E320 with 58,000 miles...

Before my engine reaches full temperature, the drivetrain does not operate well. Especially from a stop, the engine races up to 2500-3000 RPM and the shift up is very sudden and sharp from 1st to 2nd.

Any ideas what is going on ? No other problems whatsoever.

Steve
