How to find out actual mileage?

I just recently purchased a 190E, and of course the odometer is not working anymore. Wanting to see if it is possible to find out the true mileage for the car. Any suggestions?

No way, unless there's some sort of back-end micro-processor that contains this data and that ain't there.

The only possibility I can think of is to locate the last owner and hope he/she kept records of repairs and when they were done + odometer readings at the time of the repair. Even then, you wouldn't necessarily know the current mileage.

Post a pic of the the interior and I will guess .I had a 16v interior in my 8v. What does the odometer read right now? Does it not work at all or is it intermittent? Look at the condition of the brake pedal rubber cover and see what kind of wear there is. Is there any rust on the rear license plate lights on the trunk? Are the door handles discolored? What kind of condition is the leather on the steering wheel?

All the interior looks excellent. Leather seats are all in good condition. The odometer is showing around 22k.

22K That's super low. Since you mention that the odometer doesn't work, it may be possible that someone (not accusing only suggesting) tried to alter the mileage and messed up one of the gears or another part and caused it to stop working. Typically, the odometers work for a long time before they fail. I know that the speedocable wears out with time, but I haven't heard of one failing before 100,000 miles. You could run a carfax on the car. If the car is a local car, you could call the local MB dealers in your area and give your VIN to a someone in the service department to see if they had any history on the car.

Good Luck.
