Having finally tied down the oil leak (failing front crankshaft seal), the windshield washer reservoir is now leaking. It seems to me that it can be one of three possibilities: a cracked reservoir, a loose hose clamp, or the washer motor itself. Is there a logical way to diagnose the leak? It seems as though even someone as ham-fisted as me should be able to make this repair by myself.

On a related note, when the mechanic fixed the front crankshaft seal, he also replaced the radiator. Would it have been necessary for him to mess around with anything connected to the washer reservoir? I don't believe that it was leaking prior to the other repairs, and am curious as to what might have happenned.

The h/light washers use the same reservoir, & I have replaced many 2 into 1 check valves that leak on these.

On mine, it was the little rubber nipples that the motors mount into the reservoir. I replaced both and no more leaks.
good luck!

Happy holidays

Is there a specific way to troubleshoot this problem? What is the best way to remove the washer fluid reservoir? Frankly, there are quite a few hoses coming off of it, and I am not sure where to start. Thanks!

For the rubber washers, they are sitting under the two little motors near the bottom of the res. You see them when you look near the bottom. simply pull the motors out and you can then replace the rubber washers. They are very cheap ~70 Cents each. If anything this is a cheap fix!

I have seen this little washer cause lots of leaks on many models!

Washer res.

on my 92 400E, the spout on one of the motors (where the hose goes) at the bottom broke off. look at that.
