IC Warning Lights Illuminate with Turn Signal Use - R129
 

'91 500SL, 68K miles... use of the turn signal frequently results in a brief illumination (less than a second) of all instrument cluster warning lights and the blinking of the SRS warining light for several seconds. The turn signal stalk has been replaced, due to loss of the flash-to-pass feature, but the problem with the warning lights illumination remains. Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

Yes. Replace the instrument cluster.

I've seen this numerous times and the instrument cluster has to be replaced.

Installing factory reman'ed cluster remedied problem. Thanks.

I was wondering if it's because of the 470 and or the 100 micro farad capacitors that fail on the circuit board inside the instrument cluster.

I know this a typical fix (to solder in a new cap') when the warning lights keep flashing within the cluster.
