My C180 Sport will not rev above 3500rpm

HI guys,

I have a problem with my 1997 c180 sport, it will not rev past 3500rpm. I am about to change the fuel filter as they did not do it at the merc garage..

If I put the accelerator pedal all the way down when the engine gets up to 3500 it feels like the car hits a rev limiter and kepps reving down??

Any ideas??

thanks in advance

MIckey

Do you mean it wont rev past 3500 in park, or when you are driving down the road??? if you are trying to rev it in park, it wont rev past 3500 as it is rev limited. :)

any updates on this? It just happened to me today. It drives fine so long as I dont go to 3500 where it does feel like its hitting the rev limiter. But when you engage the kick down and the rpm shoots up it stops at 3500.

Sounds like limp home mode is activated. Just a guess.
