Front sway bar mount, 95 E320

For some time, we have noticed the car seems to wander at highway speeds especially. The steering feels almost sloppy. Yet jacking up a wheel reveals basically no wheel play at all. Yesterday, when under the car, I noticed on the passenger side the bushings which hold the swaybar in are somewhat worn. I tried to tighten the bolts which contain the bushings, and the lower bolt on the outermost bushing mount next to the wheel broke off. Could this be the mystery cause to the looseness of the front end? Anyone have experience here? Car handled fine when it had 30k on it, now up to 73k, feels sloppy.

I had a balljoint go at about that mileage on my '94 wagon. The feel of the car became very loose and was especially noticable at low speed cornering, I could feel the sloppyness. The ball joints on this car cannot be replaced. They are part of the whole lower control arm which costs about $800. Hopfully it is not your ball joints.
