1986 300E cranks, nostart

Need help in solving this problem.

I removed the EHA from the dist. Just to check for the adj screw.
Wiped it off and replaced it. no adj were made.

Now it won't start at all......HELP

The car already had a cold start problem and runs rough at idle.

What should I suspect, for the no start.

Then, What would be a logical reason for the rough idle and sluggish power.

1986 300e recently tuned, plugs, wires, rotor, distributor, belt.

I thought that would smooth it out. no luck.

Problem#1. No Start.
Problem#2 Rough Idle, cold start, sluggish power

It could be a number of things...

the OVP comes to mind. Fuel pump relay is another one. Do a search!

You need to work out if it's fuel or spark. the eng maybe just flooded.
try holding the pedal to the floor and crank it over, it may take a bit to clear.
if it still wont fire, remove the air cleaner lid and while someone cranks it over try spraying carby cleaner or aerostart into the air intake (make sure you keep your face away from intake).
If it still wont fire you need to check for spark. remove number one wire and connect to an old spark plug with the gap opened up to about 4mm, you will need to ground the thread of the plug and then have someone crank it over, you should have a fat blue spark.

300e won't start

I checked for spark, OK
Checked for fuel, fuel from pump, ok, no fuel to injectors.

The ovp fuse is ok, what else should I check?

Try disconnecting the plug to the EHA?? also try tapping it with the handle of a screwdriver, it maybe stuck in decel fuel shut off mode.

Make sure the air flap moves, you may want to clean the venturi.

You should also check for leaking idle control valve hoses, as a bad leak there will prevent the engine from starting or idling properly because no air is being drawn through the metering flap.

I would also check to make sure the EHA o-rings both made it back in place, a leak here could also result in no fuel delivery.

Might be a good idea to check the cold start valve for proper operation as well.

300e 1986 nostart

Problem solved.
Replaced EHA, she starts right away, and the cold start problem went away also.
Thanks to all who contributed to this thread.
