190E power door locks won't work
 

The power door lock on my 1990 190E does not work. When I unlock either of the front doors, the lock will immediately retreat back to the lock position. When I lock or unlock the front doors, it has no effect on the remaining (3) doors. I am thinking that the vacuum pump needs to be replaced. Is this the correct assumption. How would I know for sure?

Check your fuses first. Then check the vacuum pump and see if all the wires are connected good. The pump is located under the rear seat on the passengers side. If all looks good, then you may need a new pump.

If it were my 190e I would check the gas flap lock area first. Pretty easy to get to and often it fails.

Also check the audible leaks: have someone operate the door locks while listening in the trunk area and then the doors.
