300E power windows

Recently both front windows have failed to work intermittently. The last time was a cold snowy day and my first thought was that they were frozen but I don't believe that to be the case. There was no noise or movement or any indication of any current draw.
They are fused separately so I have ruled that out...any ideas. It's too much of a coincidence for two swithes to be bad at the same time. When they fail, they fail together and when they work, they work together.
