Transmission Question
I have a 89 300E and had two questions.
What transmission model # do I have? Most transmissions have partial kickdowns, this one seems to not respond until I push and floor the pedal before it kicks down. Is this normal? or should should it engage kickdown earlier. Sometimes I have to hold the pedal down for almost a second before it drops a gear. Thanks. |

shoot me your VIN and I'll tell you. It Should kick down before you engage the kickdown switch on the floor. Could be the cable on the throttle linkage is not adjusted properly. Does the car shift smooth and crisp otherwise?

The transmission is also controlled by the vacuum pressure in the intake manifold. vacuum leaks can cause a similar problem.
