I know this sounds stupid but where is the fuel filter? I need to change mine. 1987 190E 2.3 16V

Under the car, towards the rear, on the left side, forward of the axle, right next to the fuel pump, I believe..

Black plastic cover

There is a plastic cover that you first must remove to get to fuel pump "package". Just in front of the rear wheel on the left side.
