how high engine oil levels damage engine?

might have add a lil too much oil my last oil change..
oil lid said that if oil levels are above max level..engine might get damaged..

how and what parts of the engine will get damaged...?

What might haapen is the crankshaft counter weights will get into the oil and cause it to foam and possibly drop your oil pressure. Other than that, it might make a mess if it gets into the PCV system. You should just drain a couple of quarts and put it back on the mark.

Most of the MB engines take in the vicinity of 2 gallons of oil at oil change. That's 8 quarts if you're not using gallon jugs. How many quarts did you put in?

If engine oil levels are too high, the crankshaft counterweights can splash through the oil. This can cause the oil to aerate. This becomes more likely as the RPM's increase, or when the car accelerates or performs abrupt "maneuvers". The oil pump may then pump air instead of oil. This is not good, as air does not lubricate engine vitals nearly as well as oil does. I am not sure of the exact level at which this is a problem in your particular engine, but best to heed mfgs. warnings on such matters.

Everyone is right. It can be harmful to the engine if you overfill it all the time. You can use the Topsider or loosen the oil drain plug and let some of it out. Just make sure its in the middle of the mark and your good to go. Your engine is not going to seize on you because you overfilled it once, but if you do it all the time, after years it will cause serious damage.
