Glass fuses - where to find them?

I'm tired of intermittent contact problems with the ceramic fuses in my Benz. Yesterday it was the wipers, 2 weeks ago it was the heater control unit, 2 months ago it was the fog lights. And yes I have cleaned and lubed the fuses and their little holding prongs. :flamethro

But a search on the web found nobody selling Buss GBC glass fuses anymore, and they only have ceramic ones in the Bussman catalog.

Anybody know where I can buy glass GBC fuses over the web ???

I know some people think they blow too easily but that has not been my experience in the past. I've used them in the US over the years in 7 Volvos and 3 Benzes with no problems. But now I'm living in France and the parts counter guy at the biggest professional auto parts house in the city just stared at it like it was from another planet. He'd never seen a glass GBC fuse and was unable to get me some. If anybody knows where to buy them please let me know.

Electronic parts stores still carry glass fuses...they are still used by most manufacturers of electronic components.

But they won't work for vehicle applications. The creamic ones you have now have a conical apex at each side to allow them to seat firmly in the fuse housings. The glass fuses are smooth and flat at the top and will dislodge easily, especially since motion and vibration are necessary evils.

Just invest in a set of ceramic fuses and replace ALL of them. Over time, these do corrode and lose contact. Many here have done that, and marveled at how many electrical anomalies dissapeared!

I agree with just replacing all the ceramic fuses and being done with it, but they do make glass fuses with a pointed end. I recall discussion about them and where to find them awhile back, but never paid much attention since the ceramic fuses work fine for me. I think one of the McParts places carried them?

Search the web or _Road and Track_ for that place

in Oregon or Washington that specializes in hot rod parts for older Volvoes -- IPCO or IECO or something like that.
