W210 HVAC lighting

I did a few searches, and could not find...

The lighting in my 97 E320 HVAC console is inop. How do you change bulbs...remove the console...? or are they remote with fiber optics..?

thanks,

Easy if you have the correct tool....

the controller comes out just like the radio head end but you need the little flat keys to slip into the slots to release the unit. Some dealers stock these. There is a single small bulb installed in the back of the controller. More than likely, it needs replacement. You can probably do a search ond find the part number for the tool. You need two of them-used simultaneously.
