95 S420 AC Condenser Fan Question
 

Can someone say for sure if the 2 electric fans in front of AC condensor are
1. supposed to run on low speed all the time while AC is on,

(OR )

2. do they normally run for short burst of 10 seconds
or less every 45 seconds or so ?

Mine seems to run like I described in No. 2. My cooling is not cold enough while at slow speed in traffic. It is better (but not really as cold as I would like), at highway speeds.

Daniel, does your car have a black round cylinder between the 2 aux fans under the hood OR 2 white ceramic ballast resistors?

My 95 S420 has a round black tube about 3/4" in dia. X 4" tall mounted vertically between the fans. Has wires entering the bottom.

That is a common problem on the 4/94 thru 1995 W140 cars! That "electronic" resistor for the fans needs to be modified back to the early ceramic style that earlier cars HAD! MIGHT try search as that exact problem has been discussed several times!
