Never seen them.
OK, so the fuses don't corrode, what do you do about the fuse CONTACTS? Best Regards, Jim |

Hi
Living in the high humidity tropics, corrosion has always been a big problem. Things that never corroded when I lived in Canada for 4 years, corroded in a year in Singapore. eg chrome plated components like antennas, RCA jacks, etc. My solution is to use spray contact cleaner and a coating of anti seize/anti rust oil. They are electrically inert and will delay that problem. Also my fuses are all the brass variety which stand up much better than the aluminium ones. Oreo

I've had good luck with the fuses in my Volvos (the same fuses as in the MBZ) as follows:
1. Disconnect battery 2. Remove fuses and clean the fuse clips with a fine emery cloth. 3. Lightly coat the fuse clips with a silicone grease such as Syl-Glide 4. Clean the fuse tips, replace any with broken tips, and coat with the silicone grease. 5. Reinstall the fuses and connect the battery. Since I started doing this several years ago, I've never had a fuse problem. I used to have them often. |

Hi Lino
Aluminium holds up pretty well here. The usual powdering if left unprotected or not anodised. In fact, wheels, undercarrige, etc hold up much better than Canada as there is no winter, salt and gravel. The difference is the humidity is very pervasive and will corrode or pit chrome anywhere. In Canada only metal exposed to the elements corrode. Oreo

On my 190E, I replaced my stock fuses with aluminum glass type fuses. Alot better than the stock ones. I bought them at NAPA.

BAP-GEON used to sell the pointy glass fuses for VW's, although I don't recall gold ones. The store around here closed, but they still exist on the internet. Might be worth an inquiry.
