Guys,

As far as going out the North end of the airport, that will be easy, just take 114 'til it merges into 35E. I'll talk to Paul about it.

As far as traffic into downtown, I think you are forgetting that the traffic you deal with in the evening is going OUT from downtown. The traffic going IN is not bad. We've done this a number of times now and at 7PM, going IN, has worked well. Besides, Paul ALREADY has hotel reservations near there. I know from past trips, that Paul likes to get checked into the hotel BEFORE he goes to dinner. I have done LOTS of business travel in the past and that always worked best for me as well.

The time or two that we met further out toward the airport, Paul was staying near the airport.

If you're already in downtown area, then the traffic should not be a problem. If you will be going INTO downtown, you will be meeting the heaviest of the traffic.

I also worry about folks who might already have this in their calendar and might not check back in here to learn that the meeting place had been changed.

Add to that the fact that the largest number of people we have drawn for this shindig so far was at Sonny Bryans on a weeknight.

I look forward to seeing you all,

Do any of you all know of a Barbeque place nearer the airport?

Isn't there a Dickies Barbeque in Las Colinas on MacArthur and 635?

Larry, since this is your original idea, are you open to changing the location? Let us know and the local people can look for you.

Hi guys - just to clarify - the traffic from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. going **toward** downtown from north dallas is stop and stop and little go. Many times when I'm leaving work, heading **north** on I-35 from downtown at 75 mph, I look at the poor saps idling toward downtown and just shake my head --- the backup usually begins around Oak Lawn, or even further north. You just never know.

The West End is a piece of cake for me (as I office a few blocks away) ---- just want you guys headed toward downtown in the evening to maybe reconsider the location. And I know Paul is staying about 1/2 way between downtown and the 183/I-35 merge (10-15 minute drive from Las Colinas after the gathering/after traffic).

Don't mean to throw a wrench - just wanted to report what I see daily. Thanks!

SD Blue,

I'm afraid our posts hit at the same time. Please refer to the post above yours. I really don't see a change as being viable at this point. Sorry. I hope you can make it. Coming from Fort Worth into downtown on Tom Landry Freeway should work well.

71RCode,

I hate to whine, but the West End will also work well for me. I will have a little over 100 miles to drive back home after dinner. Just being honest I'm trying to set up for a quick getaway for myself as well.

No matter where we have it, it will be more convenient for some and less convenient for others. I continue to remember that we had our largest crowd at Sonny Bryans about the same time on a weeknight so it can't be all bad.

I look forward to seeing you again, maybe you'll be in your Boss.

Have a great day,

Larry, I understand. It is a little late to be changing the plans.

Sonny Bryans it is!

Central Expressway is usually quite clear heading into downtown at ~6PM. Do it all the time. Usually a small backup at the Hi-5 exchange, then free flowing all the way down.

Tollway is hit or miss heading south in the evening. Usually it's OK. I don't drive further west than the tollway, so no comment on anything else.

Just bumped the thread to verify that this is still a "go".

I'm off today puttering around with brake pads, headlight bulbs and washer pumps....and (sigh) yard work!

My only issue is which MB should I bring this time? You guys saw the W124 the last time I came...

G-Benz,

Yep, it's a go. I thought I would have to bring my pickup. The a/c went out on my 300E Monday, but I got a new condensor, got it in last night and got it evacuated and charged. The problem is that I ran out of time to wash the nasty thing. I'm sure Paul would rather ride in a dirty car, than a hot one.

See ya tonight,

As you look at the picture on your right from your left to right: Paul(Suginami,) LarryBible, jcyuhn, lizem100, 71Rcode, SDBlue and G-Benz. RockinWagin took the picture and no one thought to take his picture. Also some of the guys were showing off their wives/girlfriends but somehow they didn't make the picture. That was a big mistake, I'm sure they would have looked better than all of us ol' guys.

We have had this get together at this same place before with all but one of these guys (SDBlue.) This is a very good group and the only bad thing about the get together is that it comes to an end.

Have a great day,

Thanks
