faulty throttle body?

Since I am replacing my fan clutch, fan clutch bearing bracket I decided I'd get to the bottom of my HIGH idle problem. As I have mensioned in previous posts I am running the car without the Idle Control Valve plugged in. As indicated by Duke 2.6 that a faulty throttle switch might be the issue. Well yesterday I took the air-flow meter housing off with the fuel distributer attached. I was able to get the throttle valve body off, the gasket got destroyed but it didnt seem like the gasket was to blame, it appeared to be solid all around except where I lifted the body up and tore the gasket.

Anyway I just need to know whether I can do some sort of test to figure out whether the switch is working properly or not.

Also will a throttle body from a 2.3L engine fit on a 2.6L?

Lastly I have looked up throttle bodies on the internet and they all seem to say 'w ASR or w/o ASR' what does this 'ASR' mean?

Thanks many.

ASR is anti slip regulation or a form of traction control. It was not available on 1990 models, nor 2.6s, so you don't have to worry about it.

The TVS has three leads - idle, WOT and ground. You check for continuity at the appropriate position between two leads.

The TVS can be checked without removing the fuel dist. and TB at the pigtail connector near the #1 inlet runner.

The fuel distributor must be removed to change the switch, but usually a thorough cleaning of the area around the TVS will restore proper operation.
