Where are the cabin filters for 1986 300E?

When I bought a new engine air filter the parts person asked if I also wanted to buy the cabin filters. I passed on the cabin filters because I wanted to first inspect them - but I can't seem to locate them on my car - where are they hiding? 1986 300E W124

Apparently pre 1994 Mercedes do not have cabin air filters.

Located the cabin air inlets which are under the hood by the windshield wipers. By looking at them it seems to me that if one had to have cabin filters, the inside of a home furnace filter cut to size and clipped on top of the inlets would do the job. This would be very inexpensive and super easy to replace when required.

I could be wrong, but my 91' 300E doesn't have a cabin filter. I don't think there were until 1992. Perfhaps this is different in Canada.

I think that your cabin filters were not even on the Mercedes drawing board when your car was designed.

You can confirm this by providing your Mercedes dealer with your vehicle's serial number.

You don't have cabin air filters. Might want to get a new parts person. :)

The 124 chassis got cabin air filters for the '94-'95 model years only. The big black HVAC box which houses the blower motor, AC evap, heater core, etc. was redesigned to incorporate the filters. It can actually be retrofitted to earlier cars if you are willing to invest a crazy amount of time and money into an older car...

I have my 1987MBZ 560SEC DASH apart AND the Under-Hood Wiper-Assembly cuz I noticed the BLACK FILTH in the Cabin Air Vents. It seems that there is NO filter under the wiper assembly? or not anymore... (I will check pre-blower) but that suggestion... Painter's Monkey "DUST" MASK... is pure genius... and I didn't think of it! I am fashioning filters now.
I will repost with pictures l8r. U can also use pillow stuffing and screening to fashion filters for vents, ducts, and almost anywhere in the air system... watch temp, if you are in the engine compartment!!!
Upgrade, prevention, leave it better than you found it, fix everything (that the other guy f'd up)

Painter's Mask or Pillow Filling (not feathers)

I have everything apart  and need to use what I have on-hand:mad:. I am going to fashion a couple filters out of PILLOW FILLING and SCREEN from an old door. Thin layer, staples, cut to size, and abracadabra... FILTERS:o
But KUDOs to Painter's Mask... good idea

Just a word of caution - if you cover the air inlet with a paper type filter, in case of rain, the filter will get soaked and pretty much stop all air flow.
