securing pins for the camshaft on M119 - tensioner

After reviewing the procedure to replace the timing chain tensioner on my m119 engine, the document makes reference to fixing the right exhaust camshaft in position with pin, Special tool 111 589 03 16 00 (01) or securing/holding pins.

I have found the “securing pins/special tool” online for $35.00.

My question… Is there an alternative to safely accomplish securing the camshaft in place while changing the tensioner; or should I just purchase the special pin for $35.00

Thanks
Russell

The pins are "stepped" down to align the camshafts exactly. A smaller bolt OR drill bit OR allen wrench will do in a pinch! The engine needs to be set at 45deg BTDC & all 4 cams must be locked! In other words 4 pins.
