I hope everyone will wear a nametag of course, except me.
Do we get to drag race? I would love to race all the W116 fellow travelers. Will there be complimentary towing if we have completed more than half of our journey? I would love to meet all of you in Georgia. I wish my body restoration would be done by then. I will not be done until August. Are really ugly Mercedes allowed?

CaptAlex300e 01-13-2001 10:29 PM

I'd love to go however would I be the only Yankee their?? I'd stick out like a swore thumb with my N.Y accent :) Are there any guys from N.Y that can convoy?

One problem do I take the 98 E300 Trubo Diesel or should I take the 1987 300E. I KNOW that if we had diesel drags that I would win!!!

fz500sel 01-13-2001 11:05 PM

I wanna' go!!!!!

Atlanta in June! Yahoo!!!!
I'd love to attend. If my 500SEL isn't ready I will have to take my 300D. Maybe I can get some other Michigander to go along.

Larry Delor, are you gonna' go? If so, lemme know as soon as you can.

Anyone interested in meeting in the middle Ga area (Macon/Warner Robins) and riding up from there let me know. It is about a 2 hour ride from the house. I would like to suggest to Benzmac and Bill that the first opening day be on a Saturday because the traffic is not as bad in Atl. on weekends.

We have talked about that, we will open on a Saturday. It makes sense. Also, there IS a drag strip within one hour of here.

engatwork 01-14-2001 01:50 PM

Is the track available

at Hampton that weekend. I know how mine runs in the 1/4 mile - having raced in imports only at the Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, Ga. I would like to try it on the banks at Atlanta Motor Speedway. I could see if my speed limiter works or not.

Will I be the ontly one from Cajun country there! I don't mind I just have to be there. name tag's just let everybody guess. :D:D

Benzmac 01-14-2001 09:57 PM

The track in Commerce GA should be open in June.
When we get closer, I will have to get people to help with coordination.

BTW. I think that all people and car brands are welcome!!! I have thought of selling multi-line to help ramp us up quicker.

CaptAlex300e 01-14-2001 10:59 PM

Will any other Yanks come except for me. I'll go if someone from N.Y can convoy with me.

Benzmac,

Turncoat! Turncoat!<g> Just kidding, you've got to make a living.

It would be nice if you could find a quality tech from each of the German make dealerships for the brand diversity without giving up expertise of the breed.

Best of luck with the new venture. I'll bet your really excited at this point.

Everyone,

Don't be worried about being the only one to show up from your state. We live in a mobile society these days. I expect this gathering to include folks from many walks of life, many ethnicities, many religiions and from many geographic areas. That's one of the things that will make it fun.

Georgia or bust,

JCE 01-15-2001 11:49 PM

According to the poll at the top of the home page, only 9 or 10 definite and 16 maybes for the opening! Maybe people haven't seen the poll.

roas 01-16-2001 12:18 AM

Boy,

I'd love to attend Guys but I doubt school and work will afford the time-off. :(

If my situation changes, count me in! Now lets see, Washington State to Georgia, hummm. At 19 miles a gallon ....

MikeTangas 01-16-2001 02:52 AM

Unfortunately I had to select a definite Maybe, depends on what happens with the TDY to Indy. But I already did the math, So. Cal to Atlanta @ 15 mpg (even though I expect better), 146 gallons one way. Already have the other half's OK too, all depends on Indy.

Request!!!

Well, as I start planning for the great AMG rally (Atlanta Mercedes Gathering), it occurs to me that my first order of business should be to check the "Good MB Shops" forum for trusted techs on the way out there. (LA->San Diego->Tucson->Dallas->Atlanta) The big cities have 1 or 2 techs mentioned, but does anybody along that route have any suggestions for the large gaps between Tucson/Dallas and Dallas/Atlanta?

LarryBible 01-26-2001 08:24 AM

JCE,

Are you being fecetious? I would think that an MB with 75K miles would be about as dependable as anything on the road. If it won't make it, nothing will.

Good luck,
