a/c recharge - mechanic said there is a blockage
Hi,
I took my 91 300E to a local shop on Friday to check out tyhe A/C as it was'nt blowing as cold as it should. He tried to charge with R12 and called to tell me that there must be something wrong with his charging equipment as the unit wasn't accepting the R12. We talked and he convinced me to switch to R134, saying that it would be the easiest way to go. Well,he called about a haf hour later and told me theat the A/c wasn't accepting the R134 eithewr and there must be a blockage somewhere in my system. Any ideas? I purchased this car used and the dealer said we would fix at an A/c shop next to his dealership. They are not a MB shop. Anything they need to know? Any clues what is going on? Many thanks, Dave |
Don't walk away from that guy, RUN away from him.
To begin with he probably is just having trouble with a shrader valve, secondly you don't just add 134 to a 12 system, it is an involved process to do a 134 conversion. R12 is coming down in price while 134 is going up. There is NO reason these days to convert. Find someone who knows what they're doing. Good luck, |
