Trailer hitch for W202

Just purchased a 98' C280 and wish to install a trailer hitch. Anyone in the US install a trailer hitch on their W202? If so, where did you get it and what brand is it?
Thanks,
MarkC

MarkC,

Can you please post the hitch part # and web link or phone # for the hitch company. I'd like to get a hitch for my 96 C220. I'd like to be able to pull a motorcycle trailer.

Thanks

I bought mine from http://www.etrailer.com/
not sure of the manufacturer part number (sure it's not the same as e-trailer's #).

Carson; Can you get the MB hitch in the US?

Yes, it's a W202. C-Class car same as C280 except with the 4 cylinder 2.2 liter motor. No sure what you mean by which number. The picture has lots of numbers on it.

What wiring kit did you get for your car?

I ordered the ‘Modulite’ hard wire kit, there are two (both seem to be the same except for a bracket) one list for $39.95 the other $49.95 . There is a box that is powered directly from the battery and then uses signals from the car's turn signal, brake, tail lights which triggers switches, powering the corresponding trailer lights. I mean by this is that the car's light power does not power the trailer lights, they simply trigger switches inside the box, using the battery as power to the corresponding trailer lights. This is so a 'light bulb-out' fault is not triggered in the car and to a lesser degree to not put an electrical strain on the car‘s wires.

I did get the hitch yesterday, shipped directly from De'Lan, but am still waiting on the wiring kit. Four holes need to be drilled for the hitch, I’m not too excited about that. Also, the receiver-to-drawbar seems a bit loose, more play than what I would expect (will probably be noisy too) . I lived in Germany and had a BMW with a hitch, the Euro hitches are much nicer than the US IMHO.

Carson; Can you get the MB hitch in the US? If so, how much is it?

MarkC,

Thanks for the info on the wiring kit. Can you please post a picture of the hitch after you install it. I'd also like to hear your thoughts on the product and installation.

Thanks
Gary

Be sure and keep that tranny fluid changed about every 10-20k......

Thoughts of towing with a 722.6 make me cringe
