I had an experience with a mechanic who examined my car W210 who commented the pvc wrapping of wires are cracking and need to be changed. The problem is that the wires come in a set of wire harness and it is costly.
I really don't know if the guy is trying to fleece me. Any comments? Thanks |

Most of the dealers know of this problem and will replace the wiring harness for free if you yell a little, in or out of warranty.
Our local dealer will do it up to 120k miles. (RBM)

The mechanic told me it cost something like USD 800 to replace it? Is this a common problem? If I do not change it, will it crash the controller?
I'm at 75,000 km now and do not know if it can last how long. Thanks for sharing |
