You're just going to meet up with some other intelligent people that are out there. -No Biggie- Heck, if I keep my mouth shut, I might even pass for one!

You're lucky, David,

The look I would get would be: "You are as stupid as I always thought you were"

I'll do my best to put on the same act as Larry.

Seriously though, I understand the concern. A month or two ago, I was viciously attacked via private Email from someone who was breifly a mercedesshop.com visitor. What I think will make this legitimate and safe, is that we can all meet at a place of business, which is obviously legitimate and run by hard working folks. It's not as if we were going to join up at a bar and look for someone who fits the description of "look for the tall guy, you'll know me by the bulge of my shoulder holster under the jacket".

Tell her not to worry, we will be an extremely diverse group with our love of Mercedes in common. No axe murderers will be allowed, that's why the guy with the shoulder holster.

Have a nice weekend,

AllI can say is sure I've butted heads with a couple people on this forum on some things, but I think everyone here for the most part gets along very well. If you put 700 people in the same room, your bound to find people who don't get along, its human nature.

Personally I wouldn't try on purpose to piss anyone off or offend them, but if I am getting chewed out because of my own opinion, I wont appreciate that and will defend myself.
Things can usually be worked out in a calm manner. All that is needed is to talk about it. Thats why I love this place, everything I have read has been very honest most of the time, so its kind of hard to say that its a bad thing. heheh I would rather have someone be honest than lie to me. now who knows, I could be wrong, maybe we have all just been lying our asses off this whole time, but if I had gotten that vibe, I wouldn't have stuck around long.

there will always be people who will disagree, thats just how life is.

To me this place is entertainment and education all rolled up into one. I enjoy reading about everyones cars and I love reading about what the solutions might be. I also like the interaction we all have because it makes me feel like I am part of a community of people who like me, Love their benzes!

Say it loud and Say it Proud! "I LOVE MY BENZ!"

hehe oh if you want you can supplment benz with MercedesShop.com.

LarryBible,

I also got a E-Mail from our "Californian friend: asking me why I got started on "how the hell are you going to trailer a 44 foot boat" He was nice to me thought as I he considered me his only M-Shop friend. I still E-mail him from time to time and he's not that bad a guy.

Brabus CL 600 HP HEHE remember.

Captain,

The email that he sent me privately, was the most heinous, crass and lewid mail I've ever received regardless of whether it was email, snail mail or what. It used the F word alot and involved him doing it with my pathetic wife while I watched. I've never seen anything like it. It woould probably scare my wife to death if she read it.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who would send something like this to any other human being, whether they are provoked or not, should be watched closely. I still have an unedited copy of the email if you want to see what he can really be like.

Thanks for your comments and have a great day,

Larry:

Regarding your post from the 13th: Knowing my wife as I do, I know that her look was prompted less by any concern about my personal safety than about other things, like the sheer impulsiveness of the whole thing. Which to me is part of its appeal.

Generally: In my view, one of the unfortunate things about this form of communication is that it can happen that statements are completely misread. Maybe I'm not that good at communicating in this format, but in the past, I've had to explain and cover (duck and cover?) things to my friends, colleagues and clients that I've written that they've misunderstood. For example, sarcasm can be and often is wildly misconstrued. Luckily, with those people, I can also call them or see them and communicate that way. Things get worked out if needed. Use of this medium without those fall-backs for communication suggests to me the need for a greater than normal attention to what's written and communicated and a greater sense of decorum. Your posts in particular, Larry, are good evidence of someone with that sensitivity. Other people obviously believe the opposite. The anonimity we all really have here unfortunately gives those people reason to think that they can be as crass and idiotic as they want or "need" to be (your email story would suggest such a person). Communicating that way, is just sick. I choose to assume that everyone that has mentioned heading out to Georgia shares your view and Alon's view of how to interact. This thing could really be fun. All of us share at least one thing in common, after all and it would be kind of cool to check out the probable diversity of people who care enough about MBs to hang out on this forum. I would hope that those "other" sorts would spend their time somewhere else (insert your own vision of hell weekend here...).

There may be things to disagree over, bones to pick and the like, but they shouldn't be more than anything that can't be chewed on over a beer or two.

I would love to attent as well!

However, I do not think the responsibilities of school and work will afford me the time. A trip closer may have worked but hey, thats the way things are for me at the moment.

Visiting this board at least once a day says a lot about the value of this site, as I don't visit any other daily.

I know that I would indeed enjoy meeting the people that contribute, and putting a face to the individualistic style of writing that everyone displays would be fun to! I can definetly see many beers being downed already.

David, (dtanesq) brings out a important point that often the written message does not always come out the way it may have been intended. I for one use a lot of sarcasm and humor when talking to others verbally, but when writing much of the meaning is lost. Some of us are just truly abrasive individuals and that can't be changed, it's just a shame that anyone should attack anyone here, we are better than that.

Larry, I think that is really strange that anyone would take the time and energy to attack you as you provide so much insight and help to this board. Maybe if that person would have taken some time to read some of your other posts, they would have a deeper understanding of who you are and they wouldn't have made premature conclusions.

Sorry about going off topic, bad habit of mine.

The guy never assaulted me like he did you, however he was rather fresh to me once. I am a passive person, (perhaps a bad thing) and ignored him. I know he was a liar (the B/S about the E55 and the 620 hp Brabus CL) however I never thought he would do sucha hideous thing as send you such terrible mail. I now have no respect for this man. I value your input and friendship on this forum and would be disrespecting you if I continued contact with him. I though he was different, his disgusting actions repel me. I would not be surprised if he is a 16 year old punk. Larry perhaps you should contact your internet provider to have his E-Mail blocked form you so he cannot harass you. I'd do it. I don't know if he voluntarily quit the forum, because I think he should have been booted off.

Rest assured that 99% of the people on this forum, are great people, and its a pleasure to talk to you everyday.

Captain,

Thanks for the reply. As far as I can tell, he is gone from this discussion group. I'm pretty sure that it was voluntary on his part.

Once he started with those radical reactions to some of the mild comments that were made toward him, I should have just ignored him. Since I did not, I take a little of the blame for the incident.

I'll at least give him this, once he was done, he was apparently done. To my knowledge, I have seen nothing else from him. I removed my email address from mshop for awhile, and have since replaced it.

I agree that he was probably a kid with a sick and immature since of humor, I just hope that we never find out for sure. I also agree that at least 99% of the people on this forum are good, solid folks.

Thanks for your comments, I enjoy your posts as well.

Have a great day,
