Engine cuts out when starting in tight situations
Here's the problem:
Whenever I put the car into drive or reverse and the wheels are turned tight the engine tends to cute out. This only happens when the car is stopped - I can turn tight circles when its already moving. It's not such a big deal but getting out of parking and tight spaces can be a right pain in the a**. The car is a 1969 Mercedes 250CE, petrol, automatic transmission, power steering. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! |
Engine cuts out when turning steering wheel in tight situations
The usual answer to this is that the idle speed in gear is too low. Try increasing it slightly until cramping the wheel hard over doesn't stall the engine. When the wheel is hard against the stop the power steering pump requires more horsepower to turn it.
