New Water Leak!?
Was raining intensely this morning...I came out to the car and got in. I found a little puddle on the floor mat just next to the gas pedal and was dripping about once every min. Im thinking it could be a gasket somewhere near the hood or windshield? But how is it getting down there?
Also last week I seen a bigger puddle on the floor mat but this time close to the seat....looking through the searches that I beleive was the sunroof drains which I'll look at...but today it was just the other one. Any ideas where it would be coming from? |

Check to see that the drains near the hood hinges are thorouhgly cleared.
When I picked up my 300D (diff chassis obviously, but similar drainage designs) it leaked a good amount of water into the cabin (ends up in the back seat). I cleared all thr drains (removed the battery) and its fine now. Use a hose and check that all the drains function properly, including the sunroof. To see where the sunroof drains, open it and run some water into the tracks to simulate heavy rain. |
VERY COMMON- at least here in Oregon it is.
The 203, 211, and ( i think ) 209 vehicles with sliding roofs have a defective surround seal around the frame tray. There is a dealer technical bulletin for this very complaint. When the roof tray is dropped you'll see a tiny thin white seal around the frame tray -that's all the seal there is to keep water out of your vehicles interior. I've probably installed the updated seal on twenty C-classes and a small handfull of the new body style E-class. - |
For the AC, I dont think it was that as it wasnt on 2 days prior to that. This happened when the car was parked overnight. Its a 1983 W126 380SEL.
I'll have to check the sunroof...the drain holes in the corners of the hood near the hood hinges are all clean. |
Nevermind my response, I thought we were talking about your 2001 C240.

Oh ok. The C seems to be fine so far but I'll keep an eye out on it.
