labor / time charge for subframe bushing
The subframe bushings on the 87 260E are worn and the shop mentioned somewhere along the lines of 5 hours labor plus $200 for the parts.
I would like to know if this is reasonable for the work that has to be done or am I being asked too much in terms of labor time ? thnx. |
sub frame
when you say subframe bushings, do you mean lower control arm bushings?
front or rear? the 124 really doesn't have actual subframe bushings. |
I was told that these are bushings between the differential and the body itself and are called subframe mounts/bushings.

bushings
yes i thought you were reffering to the front end, they are shown in the picture below. the time to replace them all, according to mercedes labor guide is 3.0 hours. which in my opinion seems within the proper range,

So if the labor guide states 3 hours, isnt the private mech. overcharghing me by quoting me 5 hours ?
|
labor time
it really depends on what guide they are using, but remember it is only a guide, they may have done this before, and determined from their experience, or lack there of that 5.0 hours was a suitable time to charge for the job. ask them from where did they get the 5.0 figure
