Rough idle and bucking after Bowden cable install?

I have a 1995 E320 with 86K miles and I just had to replace the kickdown actuator, and the Boden cable. After they "fixed" my car the idle is a bit rough or maybe it is a little low. When I start the car, it seems a bit choppy and then it bucks a little (a slight uneven rocking feeling) when I am in reverse at idle speed. The car seems smooth at everything but idle, so I am not sure if it is just some kind of an adjustment that was messed up.

One thing that bugs me, about this most recent fix, is that there were no symptoms except for the check engine light. I never noticed any problems with the kickdown, but I spent quite a bit of money and now I have the idle bucking issue. They "fixed it" and now I have a problem.

Do you know why my car would have a rough idle after installing a Bowden cable and the kickdown actuator?

What was the code the car had? Based on your description I'm guessing that you had an upshift delay code. Further I guess your replaced the control pressure cable, otherwise known as the kickdown cable, or throttle valve cable. Does the trans shift correctly?

If this is what they did I can't see any connection. If on the other hand they replaced the actual throttle cable, the one that make the engine throttle move, then there could be some connection. It also then matters whether you have ASR (drive by wire) or just normal throttle cable action.

look around the intake manifold for any vacumm lines that possibly were knocked loose and fallen off.
