300SDL ACC question
I've converted my 63k mi '87 300SDL back to R-12; flushed everything (probably lost brain a few brain cells in process), replaced drier and expansion valve (not fun), pulled vaccuum overnight and the results are outstanding.
However, when reviewing the the overall operation of the ACC, I notice that when I ask for full heat (wheel in Max pos) in "normal mode", the AC compressor continues to run. Is this normal? Ambient is 90 F. The AC compressor does cut out when I switch to "EC" mode or "Off". I've read the factory manuals (both 124 and 126), but have not found an answer. Thanks very much in advance for any advice.

I'm jealous.
However, I had the problem of the a/c compressor engaging when the economy button was pushed. It would remain off for the first 10 minutes and then decide to engage the compressor. Truly strange. I finally replaced the CCU and the problem was almost completely resolved. I say almost, because one time, after the new unit was installed, the compressor engaged in economy. Since that one time, it has worked properly in all modes. Truly bizarre. |
