blower regulator

Just had the same problem on my 95 S500. Everyone I spoke with said the same thing....go with the Behr regulator. This is a common problem with these cars, which from what I understand is accentuated by clogged/poorly maintained cabin filters.

Put the regulator in today and that was it. Works fine, very easy install. Just make sure you have a set of star drivers for the screws. I needed a size 15 to take the old screws out and a 20 for the new screws.

. . silicon grease between the regulator heat sink and blower fan housing??

BTW, as a rule, you NEVER will lose any significant air pressure through the vents due to a dirty filter; either inside or above the blower. If it 'dies', then it's the regulator!

only use silicon grease if it is intended for conducting heat. Otherwise, by heat conductive paste / grease at Radio Shack (a white grease in a small tube)

Yes, the silicon grease came with the regulator. Wasn't sure how much to use. I spread a medium coat on the regulator. I assume that it is to dissipate the heat. Something unrelated, now I am hearing a high pitch whine that only appears on high fan setting. Does not sound mechanical, happens as soon as I put the fan on high and stops when I back down one setting. Any idea what is causing it?

. . to use too much; just enough to give a not-too-thick coating on the plate.

Interesting, I too at times hear the same high pitch at the mid (auto) to high settings. I've replaced mine a few years ago and mostly run it on one to two clicks above MIN, so no whine but it's there on higher settings.

Sounds, like it's a by-product of the new regulator. Tnx for letting us know.

I've had to eat blower motors before so when it needs a regulator it always gets a motor too.

. . "User CP", select "Avatar", then select "Custom Avatar". Click "Use custom Avatar". Have an avatar that's no more than 65 x 65 pixels ready to upload; point to it (click browse) and upload to MSF.

That should do it????
