I am trying to install a remote starter in my '88 300Te. The wire colors listed with the remote starter do not match the wires in my steering column wiring harness. Where could I find a wiring diagram for my car which lists the wires in the steering column harness? Is there anything available online?
Thanks! |

The ETM, electrical troubleshooting manual is what you need. The parts shop may have it. The same manual plus all the others for your car is available on a CD. The parts shop definitely has that. You can go to benz directly if these guys don't have what you want (1-800-for-merc).

If your car has a junction box on the inner right fender, check it for a purple wire. Jump this wire to the positive post of the battery. The engine will turn over when you touch the battery+ post. If you don't have the junction box, look around for a purple wire and splice into it. MB has used the purple wire for the starter for years. Since 1959 at least. All three of my MBs have been adapted for this.
Makes it easy to turn the engine over when adjusting the valves. Good luck... Bill Lewallen Lexington,Ky. |
