Idle Control Valve tunnel

Has anybody looked inside a good working or new idle control valve? Should the valve be partially open. I just pulled mine and the valve is open about 2mm open. Is this normal? I think it is and just want to confirm. M102 1988 2.3

yes. and if you put current on the terminals it will open further. Actually, no. what happens is the gap you see at rest will close and a gap opens on the other side.
