dash time clock -W123
 

Help please.... My dash clock hasnt worked since I bought the car a couple of months ago. I'm new to the W123. I've checked all fuses and their connections. Can anyone tell me how to get to the clock itself or what to check next. Thanks, Kevin

I am assuming it is the clock in the instrument cluster adjacent to the speedometer. The entire cluster pushes out from the back (or pulls out if you have the "special" tool to pull it out with. You will have to disconnect a couple/few wires and undo the speedometer cable and hard pipe for the oil pressure gauge. After it is out you can remove the clock by undoing the screws at the back and lifting it out.

If the clock is similar to the 107, there are capacitors on the board, available at Digikey for about $0.28 or Radio Hack for a few bucks that dry out. This fixes most of them. I'm 5 for 5 on this. If the mechanism is similar to the 107's (it probably is), I have spares.

Hi! Seems others have the same problem as I have... MB Clock Capacitors.
The Radio Shack part # is 272-1028, but this is no longer available in Radio Shack stores in Canada.
Can someone please give me the part cross over # for other manufacturers, or better yet, the value of the subject capacitors so I can repair my 300SD clock.

The capacitors in my clocks have been 100uF electrolytics. Any 100uF capacitor should work, although I would not go much below a 25 volt rating (insulation). The higher the voltage, the bigger and more expensive the capacitor. Modern caps tend to be smaller and I used 50v caps in mine.
